Cote's Carpet Competition

David Cote wasn't kidding about Triumph The Insult Dog.

So if you're one of the few who haven't seen it by now, behold.

It's really awful, but if you're a theatre lover I guarantee you'll laugh at least somewhere. Do hang in there for Abe Vigoda. And for the cute "Phantom" mask at the very, very end.

(Trivia of the day--how many of you can say you saw Abe Vigdoa's last Broadway stage appearance? I can!!! Yep--"Arsenic and Old Lace," 1986. I lived to tell the tale...Check out the man on ibdb, though. Some surprisingly impressive 1960s credits!)

Actually you can see my hand & TONY mike in the frame at 3:05, when Triumph "recognizes" Justin Bond (Kiki of Kiki & Herb) as boss Conan O'Brien.

Update 67/1/07: Unfortunately--though typically--the above clip is no longer active. If you click YouTube will now tell you:
"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by NBC Universal."

Good going NBC. This was probably one of the most watched things you've produced in all of June. Also bad news for the Tonys themselves--who should buy the rights to this clip and show it all they can. Something's gotta make people pay attention.
