Warning: Naked People

Page Six sounds the alarm:

WARNING to prudes: The Public Theater will become the Pubic Theater when it stages "Hair" in Central Park this August. We're told the revival of the famed hippie musical is faithful to the 1968 Broadway smash and contains full-frontal male and female nudity. The Public's rep, Candi Adams, confirmed to us that there will indeed be naked performers and that signs will be posted outside the Delacorte Theater to warn patrons. The Delacorte has gone bare before, once hosting "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with female fairies prancing stark naked.
Ha, "pubic theater"! That's why I'll never be good enough to write for Page Six.

Hmm, do you think it was the "male and female" nudity that necessitates the signs?

I'm glad they're warning folks. Cause we don't want people running around exposing themselves in Central Park. That would be just too 70s...

I wonder how the Public will try to protect actors in this day and age of cell phone cameras and video recorders. There is so much illegal footage of Broadway shows on Youtube. How many young actors want their genitals captured on video for eternity?

Interesting question, Anon. I know at New World Stages, home of "Naked Boys Singing," stage and house mgmt watch the audience pretty closely--as do the actors. If someone is seen taking a picture, they literally stop the show until the camera is obtained and the pic deleted.

Not sure how the Public can handle it...
