Terse News out of Seattle Rep yesterday, by way of Variety...
David Esbjornson has announced that he will not be renewing his contract at the Seattle Repertory Theater, where he currently serves as artistic director. His contract expires June 30, 2009.Board of trustees prexy Marty Taucher said in a statement that he was disappointed with the decision but understood that "a complex series of factors informed his thinking."
Wassup, Seattle folk?
Also--what in Varietyspeak is a "prexy"?

The man does not like talking to the media so that's all we know for now !
there's no skinny -- he's had a rough time there...his shows didn't do great, then he found himself programming crap - -crap that did extremely well for the theatre -- and finally thought "why the hell am i doing this? I hate this!"
that's why he's leaving.
"Prexy" isn't Variety-speak at all; it's an old nickname for "President."
