Lloyd Richards (1919-2006)

And here is the Lloyd Richards obituary, which does indeed read like a history of the American, African-American, and experimental theatres of the latter 20th century. (Did you know his son now runs the Grotowski institute?)

I wasn't sure of Richards's age yesterday, but was sorry to learn he died on his 87th birthday.

It's also interesting to note that the whole August Wilson trio that brought his plays to life has now passed away within a year of each other: Wilson, Richards, and producer Ben Mordechai.
